Survivors and caregivers can access the program by three different methods outlined in the links below. We want program participation to be as convenient as possible, so participants choose the option that works best for them. We offer a free 12-week class at the Community Health Education Complex (CHEC) at John A. Logan College for cancer survivors and caregivers at any time point in their cancer journey (both in and out of treatment).
If you survived the words “you have cancer”, you are a cancer survivor
Can I do this program
Any person who has been diagnosed with cancer at any time in their life can participate and any cancer “caregiver(s)” can participate along with the survivor. A caregiver is anyone who has served in a caring role for a survivor – family, friends, etc.
Social support
Social support is regarded as a complex construct which has long been suggested to have direct and buffering effects on patients' wellbeing and emotional adjustment to cancer. Cross-sectional and prospective studies show a positive association between perceived social support and psychological adjustment following cancer treatment.
